Despite regrettable retirements and the rigour of five hundred miles of competitive motoring, the finish line on Llandudno promenade proved the Three Castles is for everyone. 2025 finishers all had stories to tell and (mostly) positive memories of the event’s twenty-first running, which ran far deeper than the headline results.
Notwithstanding the concerns expressed about a noisy differential during the lunch break, fortune favoured the brave and having taken the lead from the outset, the results at the finish line showed Graham Walker and Sean Toohey as the overall victors by a margin of two seconds. Mark Godfrey and Ryan Pickering in their Escort were just unable to claw back the deficit in the course of an afternoon that ended with three tests on the Great Orme. David and Sally Ward confirmed their overall third place as well as being the first of the intermediate class crews.
Robert and Timothy Carr had improved on their lunchtime ranking, finishing thirteenth, well inside their target and tremendously pleasing because it made them the top crew in the novice category. With more stories than most to tell, the Fiat 124 Spider of Toby and Alison Sleeman had survived being rammed once and overheating twice to take the finish; the position, (57th) far less important than the experience they had shared with others. Competitors lined the promenade with their cars providing a spectacle for the public and a chance to swap stories, all of which seemed to indicate that the event had been an enjoyable, if challenging, success.
